LETTER: Wrestling with adult issues

A little over a week ago watching WWE's Friday night smack down with my fiancee' and her two children, one 13 the other 11, I was stunned at what I saw and heard. The clock on the wall suggested it was still "family programming" time but the content on the TV suggested otherwise.

Less than one third through this two-hour event, the McMahon quest to find the mother and identity of Vince's illegitimate child took center ring. This subject matter is not only inappropriate for children, but the language, sexual gestures and appearance of some of the candidates were completely off the wall.

Let me say this, I am definitely a proponent of free speech, but also of the wisdom and common sense God gives us that should be used along with it. Everyone knows wrestling in its present format is geared toward a youthful audience. If you have any doubt just check out the WWE.
Shop the Web site and you'll see what I mean. If I know this and you know this, we can be Certain Vince McMahon knows it too. The only question I have is why the FCC doesn't seem to know it.

Remember this, The FCC is federally funded to protect our youth from falling prey to such so called "adult" issues on television, which in all actuality seem pretty immature to me. Now let me remind you "federal" means funded by the American taxpayer "you" and ask this question; with this one example alone selected from a broad base of many; do you think you're getting your money's worth? I also adjure you to consider that usually with children what's spoken to them is eventually spoken through them.

Maybe our future presidential candidates should include this on their current debate agenda, I'm sure the FCC would have no problem with the subject matter considering their current standard of practice.
